The Bantams take on the Greenpoint Spartans Youth Football Team this Saturday at 2pm. The Bantams are coming off a loss from last week, and are looking to get a tough win at tomorrow’s game. Bantams record 1-2; Greenpoint 0-2 The Titans look forward to having family and former players come out and support their team. For family and spectators, prepare for a rainy afternoon.

Bantams Fall to the Rifles at Home

Week 1: Bantams defeat the LBX Empire at home to the season off strong. The game started out with an opening drive interception by #1 Tristan Yapez. The Titans soon after led with a touchdown drive to cap it off. With a strong nose defense and electric offense; the Titans finished on top.

2023 President's Scholarship

In November 2023, the Board of Directors of the Van Cortlandt Titans will award one five hundred dollar ($500) scholarship to a former Titans player who has begun college for the Fall 2023 semester.

From the applications received, the candidate will be judged based on tenure with the team, academic performance, demonstrated leadership, attitude, character, diligence, responsibility, maturity, and physical and mental improvement.

Former Titans who wish to be considered must apply for the scholarship by October 31, 2023. To be eligible, the candidate must be currently enrolled at an accredited college for the Fall 2023 semester. The winner will be notified by email in mid-November. A $500 award will be paid to the winner, or split among multiple winners via Zelle. The winner will also be honored at the team’s annual banquet in 2024.

To apply, please email or hand in the following information to Mitch Gershonowitz (email: susan_gellert@yahoo.com):

• Your full name, mailing address, phone number, and college email address.
• A photo of your college ID.
• Proof you are attending college or university in the fall. You can submit a dorm housing assignment, matriculation letter, course registration, tuition bill, or any other official announcement. A college acceptance letter is not enough.
• A transcript of your high school grades, from ninth through twelfth grade. If a transcript is not available, submit all report cards.
• An essay, maximum 500 words, that answers this question: “How did your experience as a Titan prepare you for college and adulthood?”
